Newfoundlands have been bred to work in water even in hard conditions, although for most of them swimming does not mean work but great fun... All our dogs enjoy rescuing various floating items from water (such as sticks, balls, boats, swimmers or ducks...), or just cooling down in shallow shores during hot summer days.
Water is the true love of a Newfoundland, as demonstrated here by the Terhotarha!
